BECKER — Becker built a 27-0 lead on Willmar and never looked back.
The Bulldogs and head coach Dwight Lundeen made some history in a 48-7 victory over the Cardinals in a North Central District White Division matchup Wednesday night.
Becker is ranked fourth in Class AAAA and advanced to the state semifinals last year. Lundeen won his 389th career game, tying him for second all-time with former Brainerd coach Ron Stolski. He’s in his 53rd season and is the only coach in school history.
The Bulldogs went up 14-0 in the first quarter. They got on the board with an 8-yard pass to Alex Weiss from Ryan Bengtson. Bengtson completed 15 of 23 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns.
Then, special teams got involved as the Bulldogs blocked a Cardinal punt. Cody Klatt recovered the loose ball in the end zone.

Adam Jurek punched in a pair of rushing TDs from five and seven yards out to put Becker up the 27-0 lead.
Willmar responded in the third quarter when quarterback Cullen Gregory ran in a score from two yards out. Gregory ran for 34 yards on 15 carries. He completed 14 of 20 passes for 140 yards. Sam Raitz was his top target with five catches for 54 yards.
Down 21-0 before halftime, Willmar threatened to score but an interception thwarted any chance of a score.
Tied for 10th in AAAA, Willmar concludes the regular season at 5-3.
Section 2AAAA seeding takes place Thursday morning with a coaches vote. Willmar is projected to have a home playoff game in the 2AAAA quarterfinals on Tuesday night.
