Football roundup: Lakeview scampers past YME, 47-8

Lakers improve to 5-1, getting 3 TD runs from Clayton Kosel.

GRANITE FALLS — The Lakeview football team came to Yellow Medicine East High school and put on a dominant display, swatting the Sting 47-8.

Lakeview (5-1) led 27-0 at halftime, then scored 20 points in the fourth quarter. Among the Lakers’ wins this season is a 30-13 upset on Sept. 22 at Minneota.

Lakeville got touchdown runs of 9, 36 and 1 yards from Calyton Kosel. Owen Lowagie also threw a pair of touchdown passes to Justin Timm of 14 and 36 yards.

Greg Schafer had a 27-yard TD run for Lakeville and Kyle Kurowski concluded the Lakers’ scoring with a 75-yard TD run in the fourth quarter.

YME falls to 3-3.

Cody Dalager ran 17 times for 72 yards and also completed five of 12 passes for 30 yards with one interception for the Sting.

Mason Delzer rushed for 208 yards and had five touchdowns to help New London-Spicer out-score the host Milaca Wolves.

Milaca was unbeaten and ranked No. 2 in the QRF power rankings and No. 3 in the state Class AAA poll.

Blake Schultz completed 9 of 15 passes for 122 yards, finding Brycen Christensen six times for 75 yards. Christensen also went 49 yards for a touchdown on a kick return.

Luke Dingmann threw for four touchdowns and ran another for 16 yards to complete a five-touchdown night and help Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa to victory over Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at Belgrade.

Dingmann completed 18 of 26 passes for 277 yards. He also ran for 76 yards on four attempts.

A light in the dark for ACGC was Jevon Williams. He carried the ball 14 times for 79 yards.

Kimball secured the victory with a 71-yard touchdown pass from Austin Schindler to Owen Mortenson to break a 6-6 tie with Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg in the fourth quarter at Murdock.

KMS’ sole touchdown came in the second quarter. Senior quarterback Isaac Rudningen connected with senior wide receiver Jaiden Henjum for a 12-yard touchdown.

BOLD 46, Benson 0

Hudson Vosika scampered for a 51-yard touchdown run on BOLD’s first offensive play of the game on its way to the victory over Benson at Olivia.

BOLD, ranked No. 1 in the state in Class A, rushed 22 times for 227 yards. Vosika also had a 23-yard TD run and Kaden Fischer also scored on a pair of touchdown runs.

Tate Sheehan led the Warriors with three solo and nine assisted tackles, including a quarterback sack. Ryan King recorded an interception and Austin Kiecker and Carslon Serbus each had fumble recoveries for BOLD.

For Benson, Thomas Dineen had 17 rushes for 80 yards.

Thunder Hawks leading rusher Francis O’Malley did not play. Leading Montevideo on the ground was Jaxon Wagner, who had 20 rushes for 77 yards.

Morris/Chokio-Alberta improved to 4-2 with a Mid State 1 victory against Minnewaska at Big Cat Stadium in Morris.

Dropping to 0-6, the Lakers play Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted at 7 p.m. Friday in Glenwood.

Paynesville 24, Holdingford 21

Paynesville secured the homecoming win over Holdingford in a Mid State 2 District game at Paynesville.

The Bulldogs (3-3) hit the road to play Morris/Chokio-Alberta at 7 p.m. Friday at Big Cat Stadium on the University of Minnesota-Morris campus.

Nine-Man South West

RCW 43, Cedar Mountain 18

Renville County West, ranked seventh in the state in 9-Man, broke open a close game with 21 second-half points to beat Cedar Mountain at Morgan.

The Jaguars got a 95-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown from Jasen Jansen to seal the victory in the fourth quarter. RCW led 22-18 at halftime.

Cooper Freitag rushed 27 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns and completed 20 of 31 passes for 181 yards and another score, a 9-yard TD to Lane Guggisberg.

Luki Hale had an interception and Jansen and Hunter Ridler had fumble recoveries for RCW. Ridler also had 11 tackles.

RCW plays Nicolet at 7 p.m. Thursday in Danube.
