ALEXANDRIA — The Willmar WarHawks got blown away by the Alexandria Blizzard, 9-1 on Friday night in an NA3HL game at the Runestone Community Center.
Alexandria led 2-0 after the first period. Willmar scored the first goal of the second period. Luke McCarthy recorded his 11th goal of the season with assists from Hudson Zinda and Michael Sweetland at the 22-second mark. McCarthy is a forward from Cottage Grove.
From there, it was all Alex. The Blizzard scored seven straight goals to improve their record to 5-3 against Willmar this season.
Willmar plays the Mason City Toros at 3:10 p.m. Saturday at Mason City Arena.
