Late Friday football roundup: Royalton rallies to knock off Paynesville, 22-16

The Royals overcome a 16-6 halftime deficit to beat the Bulldogs, scoring two second-half touchdowns. Also late Friday, Yellow Medicine East romps past Lac qui Parle Valley, 48-19.

ROYALTON — The Royalton Royals pulled off a second-half comeback against Paynesville to get back into the win column, earning a 22-16 victory late Friday at Jim Langer Field.

Paynesville led 16-6 at halftime before Royalton senior running back Connor Carlson and sophomore wide receiver Parker Dietman both found the end zone on runs.

Bulldogs senior dual-threat quarterback Grayson Fuchs scored a pair of touchdowns in the first half. He completed 10 of 17 passes for 111 yards and one passing touchdown and ran the ball 19 times for 106 yards and one rushing touchdown.

Paynesville hosts Holdingford at 7 p.m. on Friday at Paynesville High School, looking to get back to a .500 overall record this season.

YME 48, LQPV 19

Nolan Hildahl rushed 25 times for 175 yards and two touchdowns and Cody Dahlager had nine carries for 126 yards and two TDs along with a passing touchdown in Yellow Medicine East’s victory over Lac qui Parle Valley at Madison.

The Sting rushed 49 times for 431 yards.
