BURNSVILLE — Willmar Post 167 took third-place at the legion state tournament Sunday in Burnsville.
Post 167 held a 2-1 record in pool play, defeating Farmington and Sartell and falling against the eventual state champions in St. Michael, to advance to the bracket style play of the state tournament as the pool three runner-ups.
Willmar defeated Princeton Post 216 on Saturday afternoon in the quarterfinals before losing to Mankato National Post 11 in the semifinals on Saturday evening.
Post 167 finished in third-place at the legion state tournament for a second consecutive summer after defeating Edina Post 471 by a score of 6-3 on Sunday.
