Prep ski: Willmar competes at St. John's Prep Invite

Willmar boys place third, girls place fourth

Willmar competed in a five-team freestyle competition at Collegeville.

The Cardinals’ boys took third with 181 points, placing them behind St. John’s Prep, which had 392, and Sartell/St. Cloud Cathedral, which had 277.

Willmar’s top boys’ finisher was Timothy Halvorson, who placed ninth on the 5-kilometer course in 18 minutes, 31.75 seconds.

The Willmar girls took fourth with 263 points. Sartell/Cathedral won the girls’ 5K freestyle race with 394 points. St. John’s Prep had 345 and St. Cloud Tech/Apollo had 276.

Elizabeth Haugen was Willmar’s top finisher. She took ninth in 18:23.96.
