Track and field roundup: Rockford wins its own invitational

ROCKFORD — The Rockford girls and boys track and field teams won in a field of Wright County Conference teams at its home invitational on Tuesday.

The Rocket girls won with a score of 195, followed by Delano’s 132 and Litchfield’s105.

The Dragon girls won four events courtesy of Grace Schmidt (discus, 108 feet, 11 inches), Jaelyn Baseman (shot put, 34-6), Greta Hansen (high jump, 4-10) and Whitney Rick (3,200-meter run, 15 minutes, 40.73 seconds).

The boys meet saw the Rockets win with 164.5 points. Delano (161) was a close second while Annandale (123.5) finished third. Litchfield was fourth with 101 points.

The Dragon boys had wins in the throwing events. Tj Christensen won the discus at 150-7 while Dom Dietel was first in the shot put at 51-6.
