BROOTEN — Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa secured its spot in the Section 6A-South championship match with a convincing victory Friday.
Hosting fifth-seeded Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg, top-seeded BBE cruised to a three-set victory, 25-12, 25-19, 25-18.
The Fightings Saints had the early edge in the first set with a 7-4 lead. The Jaguars rattled off the next eight points to go ahead 12-7. Sophomore Kylie Weller scored the last points of the stretch with three consecutive ace serves.
BBE wrapped up the first set by winning the last six points.
Ava Mueller paced the Jaguars with 19 kills along with 13 digs and three ace serves. Weller tallied 36 set assists and 12 digs, and Brooklyn Fischer added eight kills, three ace blocks and nine digs.

Maddie Luft led the Fighting Saints’ attack with seven kills. She also had 1-1/2 blocks. Olivia Noble put together 24 set assists, and Avery Joyce and Julia Carlson both had nine digs in the loss.
KMS concludes the season with a 12-17 record.
BBE (23-6) faces No. 2 seed Brandon-Evansville at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Fergus Falls. The Chargers (17-10) advanced with a win over No. 3 Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, 25-19, 25-22, 28-26.
In the North subsection Friday, No. 1 Henning beat No. 5 New York Mills in three sets (26-24, 25-16, 25-22), and No. 3 Breckenridge knocked off No. 2 Hillcrest Lutheran Academy in three sets (25-14, 25-16, 25-15). The North sub-section championship is set for 6 p.m. Thursday at Fergus Falls.

Top-seeded Paynesville cruised to the victory over eighth-seeded Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City at Paynesville.
Paynesville is host to Litchfield at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the 3AA-North quarterfinals.
Emma Flanders led the Bulldogs with 17 kills and Lexy Frank had seven service aces. Rayna Spanier had 38 set assists and Kaydence Roeske had 10 digs.
