Quick start helps BOLD down MACCRAY

CLARA CITY -- No matter what the MACCRAY girls' basketball team did in the second half of Tuesday night's matchup with BOLD at home, it was not going to be enough to overcome the Warriors' first half.

CLARA CITY - No matter what the MACCRAY girls' basketball team did in the second half of Tuesday night's matchup with BOLD at home, it was not going to be enough to overcome the Warriors' first half.

BOLD jumped out to a 40-11 lead at halftime, suffocating the Wolverines with its defensive pressure and finding points in the paint with ease on offense in a 56-35 victory at MACCRAY High School.

After reaching the 1,000-point mark as a sophomore on Monday night, Makenna Steffel led the Warriors with 17 points.Taylor Sagedahl scored 11 points for BOLD.

MACCRAY finally got going in the second half, outscoring the Warriors by eight points.

BOLD shot 36 percent from the field, while the Wolverines shot 27 percent, with the Warriors winning the points in the paint battle, 30-16.

MACCRAY returns to the court on Thursday with a game against Renville County West at home. BOLD hosts Benson on Friday night.
