CASTLEWOOD, S.D. — The Raymond Rockets got their season started Sunday with a pair of road games in a state that is allowing amateur baseball to be played.
The Rockets played the Castlewood (S.D.) Monarchs and the Castlewood Ravens, beating the Monarchs 11-9 and the Ravens 2-1.
South Dakota already has allowed amateur baseball games. Minnesota, because of the coronavirus pandemic, has yet to allow games. Thus, the only games allowed are in other states, including North Dakota and Iowa, with permission from the Minnesota Baseball Association Board of Directors.
In the victory over the Monarchs, Eric Hulterstrom was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Tyler Steen went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run batted in. Eli Nelson and Brady Kienitz also had two hits apiece for the Rockets.
Against the Ravens, John Sawatzky went four innings in relief to get the win, striking out six.
