WILLMAR -- Ridgewater College has received a $50,000 grant from HealthForce Minnesota, which focuses on health care innovation.
The grant, for fiscal year 2010, is a continuing education/custom training grant to develop a labor and delivery simulation training program for its mobile simulation unit, SimLab L1.
The college foundation raised money for the mobile unit, which went into service last summer. The grants were awarded for efforts that improve healthcare practice, education and research.
The grants were awarded for a variety of educational uses, but Ridgewater was the only organization to receive a grant for continuing education/custom training this fiscal year.
HealthForce Minnesota is one of four Centers of Excellence designated by the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees. Each center is housed and managed by a state university that partners with two-year colleges.
