Ridgewater girls hoops team wins season-opener

WILLMAR - Kaitlynn Kienholz had 27 points and 10 rebounds while Abby Oberg added 18 points and five assists to lead the Ridgewater girls basketball team to a 70-56 exhibition win over the Presentation JV team on Monday.

WILLMAR - Kaitlynn Kienholz had 27 points and 10 rebounds while Abby Oberg added 18 points and five assists to lead the Ridgewater girls basketball team to a 70-56 exhibition win over the Presentation JV team on Monday.

Up by just three at the half, the Warriors used an 18-11 run in the third quarter to pull away.

Lexi Orlowski added nine points and pulled down eight rebounds.

The Warriors have two more exhibitions before beginning the regular season. They travel to Concordia Moorhead on Nov. 16, then host Gustavus on Nov. 17.

Both games tip off at 5:45 p.m.

Yellowjacket Open

Ridgewater wrestling got its season underway on Saturday at the Yellowjacket open at Rochester Technical College.

Keinnan Thacker was the only wrestler to place, taking sixth with a 3-3 record and two pins in the 133 pound division. Nick Stafford also wrestled well, finishing the day 3-2 at 174 pounds.

The Warriors will get back to the mats Nov. 19 at the Auggie Open in Minneapolis.
