The world premiere of "Crimson Lake" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. tonight through Saturday at Ridgewater College in Willmar.
It was written by Minnesota playwright and Ridgewater College faculty member Jayme McGhan, and will be presented with Ridgewater students comprising the majority of the stage crew and actors.
A synopsis from the author of Crimson Lake:
"There's an old tale about a pit lake in northern Minnesota. They say the lake is cursed, haunted by the souls that died there. Ally, a state limnologist, has returned home to the Iron Range to study the water that has kept a community in fear for nearly two decades. It has been 10 years since she's been home ... 10 years since her little sister, Taylor, went missing. With the help of her two older sisters, Lacey and Jolene, Ally will reveal the terrible truth about what lies at the bottom of Crimson Lake."
Whitney Fugleberg from Greenbush plays Ally. Lacey is played by Laura Morales of Willmar and Jolene is played by Kelsey Moe of Willmar.

Anthony Reynolds of Willmar is Micah and Elizabeth Houdek-Swanson of Willmar is Taylor.
The play is directed by Keith Green with McGhan also serving as scenic designer. Ali Lorensen is the stage manager assisted by Heather Lorensen and Kandice Gorres. Production assistants are Sam Lau, Ripley Bresson, Justin Melhado and Micah Oates-Jenkins.
The general admission tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for senior citizens. For reservations call 320-222-7605. The show is intended for mature audiences only.
Audience members will have a chance to interact with McGhan, Green and the cast and crew following the Friday performance during an audience feedback session. This will be about 15 minutes during which members of the viewing audience are encouraged to ask questions and share their thoughts on the performance. Because this is the world premiere, this feedback is valuable in shaping future productions.
McGhan is an award-winning playwright and theater generalist from Minneapolis. He is the author of over a dozen full-length plays including "Hellfire," "The Methuselah Tree," "Mother Bear," "The Sweet Stuff," "Ragtown" and "The Fisherman." His plays have been seen across the nation at Irish Repertory Theatre (off-Broadway), The Kennedy Center, Washington Shakespeare Company (Washington, D.C.), Cleveland Public Theatre, Stage Left Theatre (Chicago), Nevada Conservatory Theatre and Cockroach Theatre (Las Vegas), Iron Ring Theatre (Los Angeles), Minneapolis Theatre Garage, and many more.
