FERGUS FALLS -- Despite shooting 54 percent from the field, the Ridgewater Warriors fell to Fergus Falls 78-71 in an MCAC Southern Division men's basketball game on Saturday.
Casey Sussenguth paced the Warriors (1-1, 8-7) with 23 points and 10 rebounds. He made 11-of-17 shots from the floor and also had five assists, two steals and two blocked shots.
Fergus Falls shot only 40 percent from the floor, but had 11 more attempts than the Warriors. The Spartans won the game at the charity stripe, cashing 18-of-22 free throws. Ridgewater had only 11 free-throw attempts and made seven.
Shawn Neu hit 4-of-5 three-point shots and finished with 16 points and four assists for Ridgewater. Andy Kalenberg added 12 points and Nathan Nietfeld had 11.
Jordan Johnsrud, a Minnewaska Area graduate, led Fergus Falls with 19 points.Wiley Jiles had 15 points and 13 rebounds.
