RAYMOND - Calvin Kosminskas homered and tossed three shutout innings of relief to help Raymond blank Granite Falls 10-0 in seven innings Sunday during a Cornbelt League game.
Kosminskas opened up the scoring by belting a solo home run in the second inning. That would be the first of three home runs the Rockets would launch, allowing the home team to outhit the Kilowatts 10-5.
Justin Koenen, who went 3-for-4, slugged a two-run homer to highlight a four-run fifth and Kyle Knott added another solo shot in the sixth for the unbeaten Rockets (2-0, 4-0).
John Sawatzky started on the mound for Raymond, working four hitless innings to earn the win. The former Willmar Rails right-hander struck out three without issuing a walk. Kosminskas also didn’t surrender a walk while striking out two.
The Rockets also got doubles from Brandon Madsen and Tyler Steen, while Mike Jeseritz was responsible for driving in two runs.
The five Granite Falls hit were all singles, two each from Nick Richter and Eric Zieske and one from losing pitcher Tyler Kanten.
