SUNBURG -- Sanderson Lake in northeastern Swift County has been opened to liberalized fishing, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources announced Tuesday.
Lakes are opened to liberalized fishing when oxygen levels in the water become low enough to endanger the fish population.
Fishing will be allowed at Sanderson Lake, also known as Sandberg Slough, until Feb. 2. Signs are posted along the shore.
Anglers are asked to use caution and check ice conditions before venturing out onto the ice.
Lakes are opened to liberalized fishing for only a short time, thus anglers must check the dates. A Minnesota fishing license is required.

Anglers may take fish in any quantity for personal use from lakes opened to liberalized fishing. They also may sell rough fish.
Fish can be taken by spear, gillnet or angling (gillnets may be prohibited at some lakes, so check the signs at the access site). Seines, hoop nets, fyke nets and explosives are not allowed.
Anglers are reminded to abide by trespass laws, take home all the fish they catch, and avoid leaving trash or litter on the lake.
