Sauk tops Waska in WC clash

GLENWOOD -- Sauk Centre won the battle of West Central Conference division leaders with a 55-42 victory over Minnewaska Area Friday in girls basketball action.

GLENWOOD -- Sauk Centre won the battle of West Central Conference division leaders with a 55-42 victory over Minnewaska Area Friday in girls basketball action.

The Mainstreeters (20-1) are in a tie with New London-Spicer for first in the North division. The Lakers (15-4) have a two-game lead over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta in the South.

Sauk Centre made its 22-20 halftime lead stick by going 14-for-18 at the free-throw line in the second half.

The Lakers were only 5-of-6 for the entire game.

Megan Rieland scored 17 points to lead the Mainstreeters.

Cassie Jacobs tallied 12 points and seven rebounds to pace Minnewaska.
