WILLMAR -- A western Minnesota group of the Sierra Club has been organized after about 30 people joined on Jan. 30 in Willmar.

The group discussed local environmental issues and ways a local chapter could address them. Afterwards the participants enjoyed an outing at Sibley State Park.

The Western Minnesota group will meet at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 20 at the CURE office in downtown Montevideo. The group will engage in action concerning the Clean Air Act, and also adopt priorities for local action.

An outing to the Lac qui Parle State Park or the Blue Devil Nature Conservancy site will follow. Please bring waterproof boots and binoculars. An evening meal at a local restaurant will complete the day.

The Sierra Club welcomes members of the public who are interested in organizing around environmental issues and sharing outings.
