Slagter's 34 not enough in Cards' loss at Sartell

SARTELL -- Noah Slagter scored 34 points and Drey Dirksen grabbed 17 rebounds but the individual performances weren't enough as Sartell's first half was enough for a 83-73 Central Lakes Conference victory on Tuesday.

Slagter was able to hit from all over the court but was especially hot from the free-throw line. He hit 13-of-14 from the charity stripe.

Sartell took a 46-36 lead going into the locker rooms and that was enough as both teams split the second half. The Sabres received help throughout the team as six players scored nine or more points and five players pulled in five rebounds.

Brandon Nelson weaved through traffic and hit a reverse left-handed layup with 25 seconds left to lift Litchfield to a Wright County Conference win over New London-Spicer on Tuesday in Litchfield.

Nelson finished with 13 points and Owen Boereman led the Dragons with 32 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

The Dragons' Noah Kreger also scored 15 points.

NLS' Brandon Adelman scored 16 points and Mitchell Halvorson had 10. Adelman and Halvorson both had five assists.

Camden Arndt scored a buzzer-beater layup in overtime to lead Morris/Chokio-Alberta to a thrilling 53-51 win over Minnewaska.

Jacob Zosel drove the length of the court and passed to Arndt, who scored a game-high 17 points, to set up the game-winner.

Trailing 51-49, Minnewaska tied the game with 10 seconds to play in overtime on a Jackson Johnsrud put-back.

Jake Peters led the Lakers with 15 points.

It was the second overtime victory in less than one week for the Tigers, who defeated Montevideo in triple overtime last week.

Melrose remained undefeated on the season, utilizing a huge first half to take down BOLD on the road Tuesday night.
