MONTICELLO — Willmar is still trying to figure out roles on its team, Cardinals head coach Amanda Broman said. It made Saturday’s season-opener at Monticello that much more difficult.
Broman believes that Monticello is the section favorite now that Orono has moved to a different section.
“They’re in our section and probably the favorite to win our section,” Broman said. “For the past four years, before we re-sectioned, it was always Monticello vs Orono and Orono won. Orono has been one of the top teams in the state. But so has Monticello.”
Monticello led 2-0 at halftime.
“As soon as we figure out our roles on this team, I see a lot of growth and improvement coming quickly after we do that,” Broman said.
Willmar opens Central Lakes Conference play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. Cloud Apollo.
