WILLMAR - Willmar won an exciting game in extra innings in Game One but Sartell got its bats going early in Game Two and the Sabres earned a split of a Central Lakes Conference doubleheader on Wednesday at the Willmar High School diamond.

Willmar wraps up the regular season at the Hibbing Tournament this weekend and then prepares for the upcoming Section 5AAA playoffs. Playoff seeds will be determined on Sunday and games begin Tuesday.

In Wednesday's first game, the teams were tied 1-1 in the eighth inning. In the bottom of the eighth, Mackenzie Jones blooped a hit down the right field line that allowed Jordyn Swoboda to score the walk-off run.

Hannah Johnson homered in the first inning for the Cardinals' other run. Johnson, Jones and Makenna Hogan both had two hits.

Jones got the win, working all eight innings and allowing an unearned run and striking out 13 Sabres.

In the second game, Johnson hit her third home run four games, Swoboda had three hits, including a triple and two doubles, and Natalie Amon singled a drove in a run. But Sartell scored five runs in the second inning and tamped down Willmar rallies in the sixth and seventh innings.
