HIBBING - The Willmar softball team wrapped up its regular season with a pair of wins at the Hibbing Tournament on Friday.

The Cardinals dispatched Hill City 11-1 in their first tournament game, then defeated Hibbing 12-0.

Willmar pitchers Lily Reed and Bentley Sjoberg worked five innings against Hill City, allowing four hits, no walks and Reed struck out five and got the win.

Ashley Prahl had three hits, an RBI and she scored twice, and Callie Slagter had two hits, including a double, she drove in a run and scored three runs. Carlie Berskow doubled and drove in two runs and Edyn Saulsbury had a hit and two RBIs.

The Game 2, winning pitcher Mackenzie Jones fired a six-inning four-hitter and struck out 11, and she also had three hits, drove in a run and scored three runs.

Berskow had two hits and drove in three runs, Reed had three hits and two RBIs and Sadie Raitz had three hits and drove in a run.

The Cardinals begin section playoffs next week. Their seeding and opponent will be decided on Sunday.

Morris/Chokio-Alberta jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the second inning Friday and that was more than enough for Liz Dietz.

The Tiger hurler allowed just one hits in a six-inning win. Dietz finished with six strikeouts and no earned runs.

Dietz also drove in three runs.
