BROOTEN — Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa was on the brink.

Hosting fifth-seeded Hancock in the opening round of the Section 6A tournament, the Jaguars were down 7-4 with three outs left in their season.

That's when the offense found its stride and kept BBE's season alive.

Moving the batters around with three walks and four hits, the Jaguars completed the improbable comeback with an 8-7 victory.

Cassandra Tensen and Amber Jaeger opened the bottom of the seventh inning with walks before a knock to center field by Josie Knutson brought Tensen home.

Then with bases loaded, Kaylee Torgerson tied the game at 7-7 with a two-run single to left that brought home Jaeger and Knutson.

Abby Tensen loaded the bases again with a single. Then Ally Gruber brought home the game-winning run with an infield single that brought home Dacia Herickhoff.

Along with scoring the game-winning run, Herickoff was the winning pitcher after tossing two innings in relief. Torgerson went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBIs while Gruber was 2-for-5 with a double, a run and an RBI.

Tori Pahl had a strong day at the plate for the Owls, going 4-for-4 with a triple, a run and an RBI. Rylee Hanson also had a triple, going 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Carlee Hanson was hit with the loss after 6-1/3 innings in the circle.

BBE will resume postseason play at 4 p.m. Thursday at Minnewaska Area High School against the section's top seed, Upsala. The Cardinals advanced after beating eighth-seeded Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 12-2 on Tuesday.
