WILLMAR — Thanks to four power-play goals, the Willmar WarHawks picked up their third straight win, beating the Alexandria Blizzard on Saturday, 6-5, at the Willmar Civic Center.

Willmar had a 2-0 lead after the first period thanks to power-play goals from Louis Anders and Austin Jozwick.

The two teams traded goals in the second, tying the game at 3-3. Seventeen seconds into the third, Anders tallied his second power-play goal of the night to put Willmar up 4-3. But, the Blizzard took the lead as Dallas Duckson and Michael DeBrito each notched goals to make it a 5-4 game.

At the 10-minute, 57-second mark of the third, the WarHawks’ Cole Wigestrand tied the game with a power-play goal, with assists from Ben Johnson and Ryne Mohrman. Then at 14:53, Willmar went up for good on Kaleb Miller’s first goal of the season. Jozwick and Wigestrand both had helpers on the game winner.

Three WarHawks — Anders (2g, 1a), Wigestrand 1g, 2a) and Mohrman (0g, 3a) — finished with three points in the victory. Luke Weberg was the winning goaltender with 22 saves.

Willmar returns to the Civic Center at 7:10 p.m. Friday to take on Granite City.
