EDEN VALLEY -- Eden Valley Fire and Rescue Squad, along with the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, responded to a runaway fishing boat Sunday afternoon on Eden Lake.
Dave Loso, 47, of St. Joseph was alone and operating his 16-foot fishing boat when he lost control of the motor and was thrown from the Lund without a lifejacket, according to a news release from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office. Once ejected, Loso was struck by the boat's propeller.
John Stueber, 62, of Hutchinson, noticed Loso and picked him up in his boat. He brought Loso to shore where he was treated by Eden Valley Rescue for cuts to his back.
Meanwhile, Eden Valley Fire and Rescue went out on the lake in boats to keep other boaters away from Loso's renegade fishing boat, which was stuck doing circles in the middle of the lake. After Loso's boat ran out of gas, they towed it to shore.
