Three teams and 13 other individuals from the area will be competing today and Wednesday at three different locations in the state golf meet.

The Minnewaska girls qualified as a six-member team for the Class AA meet in Jordan at Ridges at Sand Creek. In Class A at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker, the Dawson-Boyd boys - the defending state champions - qualified as a team for the fourth straight year and the BOLD girls - last year’s runners-up - qualified as a team for the second straight year.

Junior Christian Thoen (sixth) and senior Easton Popma (10th) finished in the top 10 individual standings for Dawson-Boyd last year. Minnewaska is competing as a team for the 11th straight year and BOLD was paced by Breann Merten’s seventh-place finish last year as a junior.

Peyton Miller of Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa and Brady Madsen of MACCRAY qualified individually for the third straight year, while Brett Buckingham of Minnewaska and Ethan Weis of BOLD are making their second straight appearance at state.

The forecast for today calls for high temperatures to get near 90 as the skies will be mostly sunny. Wednesday’s sky conditions will clear as well, but the temps won’t be as warm as highs are predicted to reach the upper 70s.
