University of Minnesota redshirt senior Kevin Steinhaus - a 2009 Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg graduate - capped his collegiate career Saturday with a fifth-place finish in the 184-pound division at the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships in Oklahoma City.

Steinhaus, a three-time All-American, lost his consolation semifinal Saturday morning 8-4 to Jack Dechow of Old Dominion before notching a technical fall early in the second period of the fifth-place match against Lawrence Thomas of Penn.

Steinhaus’ efforts helped the Gophers finish a close-second (109.5-104) to Penn State in the team standings. A couple of individual champs, including Steinhaus’ rival Ed Ruth, helped the Nittany Lions claim their fourth straight national title.
