DULUTH - Sheldon Lee struck out seven and Max Dutto drove in the go-ahead run with a ninth-inning sacrifice fly to give the Willmar Stingers the 2-1 win over the Duluth Huskies on Wednesday at Wade Stadium.

The Stingers are now 2-0 in the Northwoods League North Division. They play at 7:05 p.m. today at Bill Taunton Stadium against the St. Cloud Rox.

Tied 1-1, Nick Rivera led off the ninth with a single. He took second on Sam Hall’s walk and went to third on Max Ayoub’s sacrifice.

That brought up Dutto, who lifted a sacrifice fly to center to score Rivera with the go-ahead run.

Lee and Duluth starter Dylan Barrow traded zeroes for five innings and combined for 17 strikeouts through the sixth.

The Huskies got to Lee in the sixth on a Mac James RBI single, but the Stingers tied it right back up in the seventh when Dan Motl was hit by a pitch, reached third on a stolen base and an error, and scored on Hall’s groundout.

Tyler Hanson picked up the win in relief and Garrett Anderson notched a save for the second night in a row.
