WILLMAR - Wins aren't always pretty and the Willmar Stingers got one of them against St. Cloud on Wednesday.

Justin King's home run, another run scored on a double play and an unearned run in the seventh gave the Stingers a 3-2 win over the Rox at Bill Taunton Stadium.

The Stingers have won three straight and are 11-6 overall, leading the Great Plains division by a game over Rochester and Bismarck. The Stingers take on the Rox again at 7:05 p.m. Thursday at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Stingers starter Jack Zigan was effective despite walking four in five innings. He allowed one earned run and struck out three. Willmar relievers Casey Cobb and Aldo Fernandez combined for three hitless innings.

St. Cloud took a 2-0 with runs in the fourth and fifth inning, but Willmar's Justin King led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run, and Branden Boissiere followed with a single and came around on a wild pitch to tie the game.
