MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota senior cross country runner Nikki Swenson will remain with the school next year as head coach Gary Wilson recently named the Dawson native a student assistant coach for 2011.
Swenson has been a team captain for the past two years and has a second-place and fourth-place finish this season for the Gophers.
Swenson, a 2009 NCAA All-Midwest Region honoree, will be running with the team on Sunday in the Big Ten Conference Champions at Madison, Wis. The Gophers finished third last year.
