A kid's curiousity level is on high for almost every waking moment of their childhood. Some adults also operate on the same level.
One way the younger and older generations can connect is to go fishing. Whether it's on a boat, on a dock, on shore or on a bridge, taking a kid fishing can be just as enjoyable as catching the big one.
In Minnesota, citizens who want to catch some quality family time are encouraged to take advantage of Take-A-Kid Fishing weekend, which is June 11-13. State residents 16-and-older can fish for free during these days when they accompany an angler age 15-and-under. Take-A-Kid Fishing weekends occur the first Friday, Saturday and Sunday after the first Monday in June.
A license that is valid until April 30, 2011, for residents 16 and older is $17, while a husband and wife can get a combined license for $25. Residents 90-and-older do not need a license to take fish.
The Little Crow Anglers recently held its annual Take-A-Kid Fishing clinic. Members of the club and their spouses take time out of their schedules to get kids involved in fishing, a hobby that can create some memorable moments.

The West Central Tribune area has many lakes -- and some rivers -- in its coverage area that offer this exciting opportunity.
And when the water is frozen, there is even a opportunity to take a kid fishing. February 19-21, 2011, is Take-A-Kid Ice Fishing Weekend. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' idea behind these three "free" days of fishing is to introduce children and even some adults to one of the state's most popular wintertime outdoor activities. During Take-A-Kid Ice Fishing Weekend, anglers 17-and-older do not need a license if they are accompanied by a child younger than 16 and are actively participating in Take-A-Kid Ice Fishing Weekend.
