In the aftermath of Tuesday's Gust Bowl section quarterfinal games, only 10 of the area's 19 high school football teams remain standing. Those 10 will all be playing semifinal section games today.
Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City, the No. 1 seed in Section 4A and Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa, the No. 3 seed, both had byes on Tuesday and didn't have to play in one of the windiest nights for football in recent memory. ACGC (4-4), the only team with at least a .500 record in its five-team section, will host St. Agnes (3-5) at 7 p.m. BBE (2-6) plays at No. 2 Lester Prairie (3-5) at 7 p.m.
There are also two games on tap that feature area teams going head-to-head. In Section 5AA, Morris (7-2), the No. 2 seed, is hosting No. 3 BOLD (7-2) in a battle of West Central South Conference teams. Morris won the conference title outright this fall. The Tigers blanked BOLD 28-0 on Sept. 10 in Morris. In Section 5A, top-seeded Dawson-Boyd (8-1) hosts MACCRAY (6-3) at 3 p.m. Both teams play in the Little Sioux Conference. Dawson-Boyd, which shared the conference title this fall with Tracy-Milroy-Balaton and Minneota, thumped MACCRAY 49-21 on Oct. 19.
