Tennis: Sartell slips past Willmar in CLC battle

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals lost out in the tiebreaker of a third set and Sartell escaped with a 4-3 win in Central Lakes Conference boys tennis.

WILLMAR -- The Willmar Cardinals lost out in the tiebreaker of a third set and Sartell escaped with a 4-3 win in Central Lakes Conference boys tennis.

At 4-singles, Willmar freshman Preston Peterson split sets with BranDan Larsen-Miller and then led the third set 5-4. But the Sabres junior rallied to go up 6-5 and win in a tiebreaker.

Dakota Frazier, at 2-singles, lost only one game in his 6-0, 6-1 victory for the Thunder Hawks. Montevideo also triumphed in two three-set matches with Alex Thompson winning his 4-singles match 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 and the 1-doubles team of Eric Johnson and Jesse Brace winning 6-7 (6-8), 6-3, 6-3.
