FERGUS FALLS-The Willmar boys tennis team had some trouble with Thief River Falls but still came away with two victories at Fergus Falls on Thursday.

The Cardinals blanked Fergus Falls 7-0 and downed TRF 5-2.

Willmar had one three-set match against the Otters.

Against TRF, however, Willmar No. 1 Will Fischer fell to the Prowlers' Cole Gillespie 2-6, 6-2 and an epic 14-12 third set. The Cardinals also lost at No. 2 doubles in three sets, with the third going 11-9. Two other matches went to three sets, with the Cardinals prevailing.

Central Lakes Meet

Hosting the first Central Lakes Conference meet of the season, the Willmar girls golf team finished fourth on Thursday with a team score of 403.

Leading the way was Alexandria with 346, followed by Brainerd's 373 and Sartell's 379.

Amanda Mathiasen led the Cardinals with a round of 89, which was good for third overall. Alexandria's Hannah Boraas was the medalist with a round of 80, beating teammate Ciara O'Connor's 82.
