Minnesota chapter of National Wrestling Hall of Fame honoring Mike Bredeck
Mike Bredeck, who had a distinguished 25-year coaching career at Madison, Minn., and Superior, Wis., will be receiving a Lifetime Service Award at the Minnesota chapter’s National Wrestling Hall of Fame banquet Saturday, May 3 at the Austin Holiday Inn Conference Center.

Bredeck’s teams never lost a regular-season Little Sioux North Conference dual meet or tournament from 1980-87 and featured several state place-winners. Bredeck had five of his wrestlers earn a combined eight All-American honors and two national runner-up finishes at the collegiate level.
Kienitz, Brace, Monahan lead doubles sweep for SMSU
Southwest Minnesota State University lost 5-4 to UM-Duluth in NSIC women’s tennis at Minnetonka on Saturday, despite sweeping doubles propelled by the play of former area players Katie Kienitz (Raymond/MACCRAY) and Lindsey Brace and Shelby Monahan, both of Montevideo.
Kienitz, a junior, and her partner won at 1-doubles while Brace, a freshman, was at 2-doubles and Monahan, a senior, at 3-doubles.

Brace and Monahan, at 3- and 4-singles, respectively, each lost tiebreakers as the Bulldogs took five of six points at singles.
Annual Atwater Baseball Association Supper and Silent Auction Friday
Burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips and beans will be on the menu Friday at the annual Atwater Baseball Association Supper and Silent Auction.
The free-will donation event is 5:30-8 p.m. at the Atwater Community Center and will benefit the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Falcons, Tri-Town Black Sox, Atwater Chuckers and Kingery Field.
