Several media Web sites reported Saturday night that Minnesota football coach Tim Brewster has been informed that he would not be retained as coach next season.

According to reports on Gopher Illustrated and AM 1500 ESPN radio , Brewster will coach the rest of the 2010 season, but will not return for the 2011 season.

University of Minnesota officials are reportedly planning a news conference Sunday to discuss the Gopher football coaching situation.

Gophers are winless in the Big Ten and 1-6 overall.

Multiple media reports last week reported that Brewster would be fired if his team lost their Big Ten game Saturday. Purdue beat Minnesota 28-17 for the Gophers' sixth straight defeat..
