MONTEVIDEO - The Montevideo boys and girls track and field teams cruised to victories in the Section 3A Subsection 12 championships on Thursday at Montevideo High School.
The Thunder Hawks boys scored 248.5 points, well ahead of second-place Yellow Medicine East (158 points) and third-place BOLD/BLHS (86.5).
The T-Hawks girls team placed first with 214 points. Lac qui Parle Valley/Dawson-Boyd was second with 172 points and BOLD/BLHS was third with 95.
Montevideo’s Jack Spaeth won the 110- and 300-meter hurdles and he place third in the Triple Jump. Montevideo won four relay events and also earned first-place finishes in the 1,600 (Spencer Sulflow), the Triple Jump (Casey Reeves) and the 3,200 (Kurt TeBeest).
Yellow Medicine East’s Jacob Pederson won three events, placing first in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and the Long Jump.

LQPV/DB’s Jacinta Roggenbuck also was a triple winner, placing first in the 100, 200 and 400. Teammate Alaysia Freetly won the 800 and 1,600 runs and Eagle Sydney Bartunek won the 3,200.
Montevideo won three of four relays and also got first-place finishes in the High Jump (Lexi Quigley), the Triple Jump (Molly Reeves) and the 300 hurdles (Kami Ochsendorf).
