WILLMAR-Minnesota gymnastics poll voters know what they're doing.

The top three-ranked teams in Class A finished in that order on Saturday at the Class A State True Team Meet at Willmar's Kennedy School.

Top-ranked Detroit Lakes won the meet with 187.525, followed by No. 2 Melrose with 181.45 and No. 3 Willmar with 180.075.

That was the same order of finish at the 2016 meet, although Willmar entered that meet ranked No. 4 in Class A.

"We are so proud of how our young team preformed at this event," said Willmar head coach Jodi Mottinger, whose program hosted the state meet for a second-straight year. "This was our best all around team effort we have had so far this year with top judges in the state. Our goal was to make the podium in the top three. We accomplished the goal and finished in third for the second straight year."

Willmar's Erica Schramm placed sixth on the vault, was 15th on the bars and placed seventh all-around with a 36.90.

Lydia Morrell tied for 13th on the bars and Kirah Kessler-Gross tie for ninth on the beam and tied for 12th on the floor.

Olivia Welsh tied for 12th on the beam and Tayva Carruthers was the meet's first competitor on the beam and scored a 9.0, sparking the Cardinals to five scores of 8.55 or better.

"It was fun to see how this team responded to the pressure of such a big meet," Mottinger said. "This experience will serve them well as we roll in to our big (Central Lakes Conference) meet and sections in the next three weeks."
