BRAINERD -- While more than 10,000 anglers dropped lines in holes on Gull Lake near Brainerd for the annual Brainerd Jaycees' $150,000 Ice Extravaganza last Saturday, only two from the West Central Tribune area landed in the top 150 and earned prizes.
Mike Carl of Litchfield was the highest area finisher. His 0.61-pound walley placed him 93rd and he won a Strikemaster Auger. Trevor Iverson of Willmar caught a 0.58-pound walleye and took 116th place, winning a Lindy/Mr. Heater package.
The overall winner was Terry Schwichtn of Waterville, who landed a 5.34-pound walleye and won a 2008 Ford 4x4 truck.
