WILLMAR - Two six-run innings to open the game and a 3-for-3 performance from Trae Murphy helped Willmar drub Paynesville 16-6 Sunday at Baker Field.
Willmar batted 19 in the first and second innings combined and produced 11 hits to take a 12-2 lead. Murphy doubled in the first and singled in the second, while Tyler Johnson and Matt Flaig both singled in the first and second.
Willmar then had Austin Boller double, Garrit Kooistra single and Murphy double to open the fourth and help manufacture four insurance runs.
Willmar hosts New London-Spicer on Tuesday.

Garrit Kooistra struck out three and held Cold Spring hitless and scoreless in two innings of relief to pick up the win.
