WILLMAR -- The Willmar VFW I team advanced in the District 5 playoffs with an 11-1, six-inning victory over Benson on Tuesday night at Baker Field.
Willmar led 1-0 going into the third inning and then opened up the offense, scoring four in the third and two runs in each of the next three innings to win by the 10-run rule.
Willmar's Evan VanDenEinde, Tony McCleary, Adam Nibaur and Austin Smith all had two hits. McCleary drove in three runs and Nibaur drove in two. Nibaur also picked up the win, working 5.2 innings, allowing just three hits, no earned runs and striking out eight.
Willmar plays next at 5 p.m. Friday in Morris.
