MONTEVIDEO -- A second straight upset has thrust the Montevideo volleyball team into the Section 3AA-North championship match.
The No. 6 Thunder Hawks (16-9) shaded No. 2 Morris 23-25, 25-13, 25-12, 14-25, 17-15 in a section semifinal Monday.
Last week, Montevideo knocked out No. 3 Yellow Medicine East, 3-1. The Thunder Hawks will face top-seed Benson, which beat BOLD 3-1 earlier in the day, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the R/A Facility on the Southwest Minnesota State University campus in Marshall.
Morris gained the upper hand early, winning the first game 25-23, but Montevideo stormed back to take a 2-1 lead.
"We really controlled the second and third (games) and then got the same treatment in the fourth game," said Montevideo coach Joanna Magnuson.

The final game went back and forth after the Thunder Hawks held an early 3-0 lead.
"They're a good team," Magnuson said. "We played really well at times and didn't play well at times."
Brooke Tastad pounded down 20 kills to lead Montevideo. Jaci Clauson and Miranda Kostboth had three ace blocks each. Carly Beals had 23 set assists and Elissa Christensen collected 19 digs.
Morris statistics were not available at press time.
