WABASSO— The MACCRAY volleyball team took home the title Saturday at Wabasso Invitational.

The Wolverines beat Southwest Minnesota Christian 2-0, Redwood Valley 2-0 and tied Wabasso 1-1 in pool play, then beat Pipestone 2-1 and BOLD 2-0 to win the championship.

Sydney Thein wound up with 48 kills and 58 set assists in the tournament for the Wolverines. Kylee Kimpling had 35 kills and Annie Bourne had 44 set assists. Ella Bourne contributed 67 digs.

BOLD finished second. Central Minnesota Christian won the consolation championship.

MACCRAY returns to Camden Conference action when it plays Tuesday at Canby. CMCS next plays Tuesday at Minneota.

New London-Spicer placed second after getting swept by Kittson County Central in the championship, 25-13 and 26-24.

The Wildcats topped Lakeview 25-13, 26-24; Ashby 25-10, 25-16; and Minnewaska 25-15 and 25-20 before falling in the championship.

C-I Invite

Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa wound up in third place out of 16 teams at the 35th Annual Neprud Tournament at Crosby-ironton High School.

BBE went 2-0 in pool play, beating Crosby-Ironton and Little Falls. The Jaguars then lost to eventual tournament champion Ada-Borup in the semifinals 21-25, 25-22, 11-15.

BBE then beat Hermantown 25-18, 25-12 in the third-place match.
