Warren and Steenhoek first at Lake Ripley 4-mile in Litchfield, Minn.

LITCHFIELD -- Tyler Warren, 20, of Watkins and Stephani Steenhoek, 18, of Hutchinson were the men's and women's overall winners on Saturday morning at the Lake Ripley 4-mile run during Watercade festivities in Litchfield.

LITCHFIELD -- Tyler Warren, 20, of Watkins and Stephani Steenhoek, 18, of Hutchinson were the men's and women's overall winners on Saturday morning at the Lake Ripley 4-mile run during Watercade festivities in Litchfield.

The total number of timed finishers on the warm but overcast morning was 281.

Warren, who was third last year, won by 20 seconds over Eric Schmidt, 19, of Hutchinson in a time of 22:24, a 5:36 pace. It was the third time Schmidt has placed second in this run on the southwest side of Litchfield.

Warren ran for the Dragons at Litchfield High School and just completed his freshman year at the University of Minnesota. He won the Avon 5K earlier this summer.

Steenhoek, 26th overall, ran the four-mile loop in 26:36. Next to the finish in the women's division were Tracy Sik of Willmar in 27:27 and Emily Carlson of Helendale in 27:32.

Steenhoek, who ran track for the Tigers but in the fall played tennis, won the Hutchinson 8K earlier and was second at the Glencoe 2.2-mile run. She'll be entering Minnesota State-Mankato in the fall, as will Schmidt, a transfer from South Dakota State.

Mike Heinen, 27, of Willmar was third overall. Also in the top 10 were Kyle Vossen, 18, of Willmar; Ben Burgett, 15, of Spicer; Luke Lagergren, 20, of Spicer; Marty Janning, 46, of Willmar; Klint VanHeuveln, 18, of Pennock and Mark Mortenson, 42, of Litchfield.
