AUSTIN -- The Ridgewater men's basketball team opened the MCAC Southern Division schedule with a 77-63 win over Riverland Wednesday.
The Warriors (1-0, 9-6) took advantage of the Blue Devils making only 8-of-28 three-pointers.
"They live and die by the three and we played a great defensive game, for the most part," said Ridgewater coach Bob Knutson. "We got the ball inside to Cory (Nietfeld), Casey (Sussenguth), Tom (Boike) and Ben (Moser) and break them down."
Sussenguth and Nietfeld had 17 points each to lead the way. Sussenguth also pulled down nine rebounds. Shawn Neu followed with 15 points and Moser had 14 points and seven boards.
The Warriors also kept the Blue Devils away from the foul line, committing seven fouls and hold Riverland to five shots. The Warriors didn't do well from the line, making 10 of 21.
