BENSON -- Minnewaska's Laura Paulson won a pitching standoff with Taylor Semler of Benson/Hancock Friday as the Lakers prevailed 2-1 in the West Central South Conference clash.
Paulson finished with a four-hitter with one walk and seven strikouts.
Semler tossed a five-hitter with three walks. She had just one strikeout.
Minnewaska (9-1, 13-1) won its 12th straight game.
It was the third one-run loss for Benson/Hancock (4-7, 5-7) this week, falling 4-3 to Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City and 1-0 to BOLD.

Both teams manufactured a run in the first inning.
In the third inning, Lakers' leadoff hitter Abby Kreitlow got the second of her three hits. She then stole second, advanced on a ground out and came home on Jordan Stalker's ground-ball single.
Mallory Jensen's single through the infield brought home Debbie Reardon in the first inning for the Brave/Owls lone run.
Minnewaska hosts Paynesville (8-2) in a key West Central South Conference game on Tuesday. Paynesville won the first meeting 7-4 on April 9.
In the first meeting of the year between the teams, Minnewaska prevailed 7-0 on April 24 with Paulson hurling a one-hitter.
