NEW LONDON - New London-Spicer's boys basketball team fought back to defeat Minnewaska 44-43 in a non-conference match-up Saturday.
The Wildcats found themselves in a dogfight with the Lakers, trailing 20-17 at halftime before flipping the tables in the second half. Defense was the name of the game and Minnewaska forced bad shots from NLS throughout the ballgame. The Wildcats, traditionally strong from beyond the arc, had quite the cold streak on Saturday, shooting 5-of-33 from 3-point land but ultimately made up the difference on the glass. NLS outrebounded Minnewaska 42-33.
Individually, Ander Arnold earned a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Brandon Adelman scored 13 points, tied with Minnewaska's Garrett Jensen on the day.
