Wildcats overwhelm Thunder Hawks

NEW LONDON -- New London-Spicer fought through a seven-minute scoreless stretch in the second half and cruised to their third win in three games, 56-35, in a non-conference game on Tuesday at NLS High School.

NEW LONDON - New London-Spicer fought through a seven-minute scoreless stretch in the second half and cruised to their third win in three games, 56-35, in a non-conference game on Tuesday at NLS High School.

The Wildcats built a 30-10 lead at the break, but Montevideo scored 11 straight points to open the second half to cut NLS’ lead to nine.

Megan Thorson led the Wildcats with a double-double, 17 points and 11 rebounds.

Erin Tebben had eight points and nine rebounds, and the Wildcats’ interior defense of Tebben, Thorson and Morgan Swenson combined for nine steals.

Shea Oman score nine points and Kabrie Weber finished with six points, seven rebounds and three assists.

Montevideo’s Abby Olson hit two 3-point shots and had 12 points, and Alexis Schmitz had seven points and a team-high seven rebounds.

The Wildcats play Minnewaska at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at NLS High School.
