NEW LONDON - New London-Spicer's offense has been a sight to behold all season long but it was the defense and special teams that carried the Wildcats to a big 49-8 victory over Milaca Friday night.
Gideon Mische started it off with a 76-yard kick return and teammate Andrew Templer turned around on the ensuing drive and took a fumble recovery back to the house for a 14-0 lead. Kelly Bennetts, who added a 51-yard touchdown run late in the proceedings, made it 21-0 with a 30-yard interception return.
Payton Madison didn't need to do much for the Wildcats, but that didn't stop him from having a monster game. He ran eight times for 119 yards, a night that included a 65-yard rushing touchdown following Bennett's interception return.
To pile on, Madison also scored on a 79-yard pass by Brandon Adelman right before halftime.
New London-Spicer will carry a five-game win streak into next Friday's game against Little Falls.
