PRIOR LAKE -- The Willmar Cardinals season ended Friday night in the first-round of Section 2AAA.
Both games were tight all the way, a 6-4 eighth-inning loss to Buffalo and a 2-1 loss to No. 1 seeded Prior Lake.
The Cardinals finished 10-11.
Buffalo 6, Willmar 4
The Bison, seeded No. 9 , put up two runs in the top of the eighth to snap a 4-4 tie. Buffalo relief pitcher Brooks Bieltte, who had caught the first seven innings, pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh.

Willmar starter Nathaniel Swoyer pitched into the seventh inning before giving way to Andrew Bangen. Swoyer gave up nine hits and all six runs. Only three were earned as the Cardinals were charged with six errors.
Willmar, the No. 8 seed, was outhit 10 to 7.
The Cardinals' Jordan Smith singled, doubled and tripled and drove in two runs.

Senior right-hander Jordan Smith took the mound and kept the favored Lakers in check. Smith pitched a six-hitter with two walks and seven strikeouts.
But T.J. Larson was just as tough. He tamed the Cardinals on three hits while fanning 13 and walking five.
Leadoff Logan Birkland scored Willmar's run in the first inning. The lead stood through four innings before Prior Lake (19-2) scored twice in the bottom of the fifth.

A five-run second inning by the Thunder Hawks made it too difficult for Yellow Medicine East to mount a comeback.
Mitch Christiansen pitched 6Zc innings and surrendered two earned runs for the win. He allowed three hits and struck out six.
Christian Brabender and Colton Vien hit doubles for Montevideo. They also drove in a run each.
Dylan Linndstrom took the loss for the Sting by pitching three innings and allowing five runs on five hits.
Devon Dyrdahl, Mason Hegna and Austin Cole accumulated YME's three hits.

Lac qui Parle Valley strung together eight hits in the bottom of the sixth inning for an eight-run rally toward a 10-6 win over Redwood Valley.
Ryan Streich, Baxter DuFrane, Jordan Schwarz, Cory Wildung and Eric Paulson each rapped two hits for the Eagles.
Schwarz, Paulson and Scott Bormann also hit a double apiece for LQPV.
Streich earned the win by pitching two innings of hitless relief.
Redwood Valley's Aaron Pohlen took the loss by surrendering five runs in one inning of relief.
Eric Weineke drove in two runs for the Cardinals.

Montevideo used a three-run fifth inning to catapult over BOLD in a 4-3 win.
Ryan Tostenson ripped a double for two runs. Joe Bednar had two hits and an RBI.
Freshman Colton Vien earned the win with three hits and no runs allowed over 4Zc innings.

Shawn Dollerschell took the loss for BOLD despite pitching a complete game. He scattered seven hits and allowed only one earned run.
Tyler Hebrink hit a double for one of two hits. He also drove in a run.

Marshall's Clay Ellis was a one man wrecking crew against Lac qui Parle Valley as he drove in four runs at the plate and earned the win from the mound.
Ellis had two hits, one a double, to drive in four RBI. From the hill, he threw six innings for three earned runs and four hits.
Eric Paulson of the Eagles was saddled with the loss after six innings pitched and four earned runs.
Jordan Schwarz drove in three runs for LQPV. Tron Tosel stroked two hits, including a double.
